Collierville tn homes for sale: House hunting, European-style home

Gene and Denise Mangiante, and their children Will,11, and Mikey, 9, were living in East Memphis when they decided their family needed to move to Collierville.

“Our oldest son, Will, has autism and the services for special needs students in the Collierville schools had been highly recommended,” explained Denise.

The Mangiantes bought this home in The Preserve at Oak Grove subdivision of Collierville.

So when the Mangiantes started their house hunt, they knew that having their children in the Collierville Municipal Schools system was their top priority. They also wanted to have four bedrooms, a bonus room, a pool for at-home recreation and a room that they could use as a home office. Gene is the chief operating officer for the Memphis locations of The Joint Chiropractic Clinic and Denise is a stay-at-home mom.

The couple turned to Shelly Rainwater, an agent with Sowell Realtors, to assist them with finding the perfect property for their family.

As the heart of the home, the kitchen is just steps away from the dining room, the living room and a separate sitting area.

“Shelly helped us buy our first house in 2003,” said Denise. “Her extensive knowledge of the local real estate market helped us hone in on what was available in Collierville. She really listened to our wants and needs. We had been looking for a while, so we knew what we wanted and what we liked. In this sellers’ market, Shelly understood the value of being ready to make an offer as soon as a potential property became available. She made sure that we were pre-approved so our first offer could be our best offer. And she was so spot-on about what was right for our family that we purchased the first home we toured.”

The Mangiantes purchased their European-style home, c. 2005, in The Preserve at Oak Grove subdivision of Collierville. They paid $579,900 for more than 3,700 square feet of living space, which included the requisite four bedrooms, and offered three bathrooms.

The formal dining room is stylishly decorated.

“One of the bedrooms has been put to use as Gene’s office, it also doubles as a guest room,” said Denise “The large bonus room serves as a media room, and also a rec room with a basketball arcade game and a Peloton bike.”

“Denise loves the living room where she can display her Kate Jankowski custom artwork above the fireplace,” added Gene. “The whole family loves the outdoor living area, including the grill, the heated pool, the stone fire pit and the patio area.”

This cozy area is adjacent to the kitchen.

“Our new home is situated on a gorgeous corner lot,” continued Gene. “There’s a covered outdoor living space in the backyard that has a built-in cooking area. The wide driveway allows room for extra parking.”

The master bedroom has a soothing palette of shades of white and light blue.

Denise added, ”This home has a great flow with two bedrooms down and two bedrooms up. We were so pleased to find a home that offered all of this, plus an exercise/recreation room. This home was well-maintained by the previous owners. It has beautiful hardwood floors downstairs and newer carpet in other areas. The spacious kitchen opens onto a sunny hearth room. Additionally, this house was recently painted and has a relatively new roof.  And we’re located next to a park and the new Collierville High School.”
